Chris Rhodes, London Blue Badge Tour Guide
I’m Chris Rhodes, a fully qualified Blue Badge Guide; London’s official tourist guiding qualification, held by only a small number of guides in the city. I personally lead every one of my 19 tours myself, never a rotating pool of guides.
Whether it’s a walking tour through the City, a private visit to a major site like the Tower of London, or a full day trip out to Windsor, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon or Stonehenge, I’ll tailor it around what you actually want to see.

“Chris’s tours are always interesting and full of the unknown. I have done four of his tours now and they get better every time.”

“Chris is an excellent guide and a pleasant companion. There is a lot of information to take in but he explains everything in a way that makes it easy to understand.”

About Me

After twenty years calling London home, I still haven’t run out of stories to tell about it, which is really the whole point. This is a city with layers most visitors, and plenty of locals, never get shown, and helping people discover those layers is what I love most about the job.
Before London, I qualified as a Chemical Engineer in 1975 and spent 35 years in the Oil Industry, including a Masters Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and postings across the UK and overseas: Cairo, Canton, and later the USA, Russia, Argentina, Vietnam, South Korea, Angola and Azerbaijan. It’s an unusual route into tour guiding, but it means I bring a slightly different eye to London’s history, as interested in how the city actually works as I am in its kings, queens and scandals.
I’ve now been a qualified Blue Badge Guide, the UK’s most rigorous tour guiding qualification, for over 15 years, and it’s given me the chance to put that curiosity to proper use. It’s why I’ve built out 19 different walking tours, from Westminster and Windsor to Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel, the legal world of the Inns of Court, and Battersea’s ongoing regeneration, plus site visits and day trips further afield to Oxford, Stratford and Stonehenge. Whatever your interest, there’s very likely a tour for it, and if there isn’t yet, I’ll happily build one.
I’m married to Jean, from Aberdeen, and between us we have three sons, all married, and six delightful granddaughters.
